Roger said: “We used an outside broadcast sports unit to bring in their cameras into Elstree [Studios] where we were rehearsing. And we could go on the road and that [music video] could be on Top of the Pops and we realised ‘Wow, you don’t even have to be here to promote your record now!’ Y’know you just make one of these little video films and that’s got to be the way in the future. And we were the first to do that.”

Directed by the late Bruce Gowers, the Bohemian Rhapsody music video cost just £4,500 at the time.

Brian said in a statement: “Very sad to hear that Bruce Gowers passed away on Sunday. Bruce was, of course, the architect of our Bohemian Rhapsody video, and quite a few others as well. He will be sadly missed in the Rock community, and certainly never forgotten. We send deepest condolences to his family. Bri.”
