Brian May unveils what Michael Jackson copied from Queen’s live shows | Music | Entertainment

The Michael Jackson anecdote came up in this week’s episode of Queen The Greatest Live. Today’s mini-documentary looks back at the band’s incredible use of lighting in their iconic shows. Back then they were illuminated by the infamous “pizza oven” rig that was a pretty strenuous ordeal for the band.

Sir Brian said: “In those days, they were hot, they were incandescent, all of them, they were all tungsten. And when it came down, it was pretty much like a pizza oven. And Rog used to get frightened. There was smoke coming off his stool when he went off for the encore. I don’t quite how we survived that!” But it was another groundbreaking lighting set-up that caught the attention of the King of Pop.
