James Gunn lashed out at Guardians of the Galaxy fan over DC Studios | Films | Entertainment

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 will be bringing the story of Star-Lord and his collection of galactic warriors to an end. At the moment, it is not known whether everyone is going to survive the movie, or if they’ll be making a comeback, but one thing is for sure: James Gunn is done with the series. He has directed all three Marvel movies, and is valiantly promoting the final movie up until the very end – but this irritated one stringent fan.

Gunn recently posted a photo of himself on the set of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 with the stars of his movie Chris Pratt, Sean Gunn and Pom Klementieff. Each of them were wearing shirts with Gunn’s face on as a funny gag.

But one disgruntled fan commented: “The worst business that DC could do was to hire someone who advertises the competition… unbelievable, now can you imagine what their movies are going to be like??? I think it’s a disaster.”

The fan was referring to Gunn’s new position as co-chair and co-CEO of DC Studios. Since he started the role, he has been tweeting about bringing a new Superman movie to the big screen, as well as plans for Batman and the future of The Flash.

However, Gunn was not going to take this kind of disrespect lightly. He instantly hit back at the fan claiming DC wanted him to be supportive of his own work.

Gunn opined: “The last thing DC would want is someone who would spend the last 12 years of his life creating a series of films, and then turn his back on the last movie he created and poured his heart and souls into, as well as his collaborators and the investors.”

He went on to add: “I wasn’t hired at DC without everyone on board being very clear and supportive up front and continuously through this process.”

It is assumed that once Gunn’s time on the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 comes to an end, he will no longer work with Marvel – but until then, he’s excited to continue promoting his work.

This kind of outburst from Gunn on his Instagram account is not uncommon. Just last week he was teasing the death of a major Guardians hero after fans began guessing about the movie’s plot.

Gunn was overwhelmed with comments and messages suggesting that Rocket Raccoon will be killed off in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.

The theory began after the latest film trailer hit the internet. There was a specific focus on Rocket’s backstory, and a few shots of saddened Guardians crying over what could have been Rocket’s lifeless body.

With that said, many fans began calling Gunn out and claiming he has killed off the furry character.

One jokingly said they “hoped Rocket died” during the movie. And Gunn gave an ambiguous response that left fans wondering if the hero would really be getting killed off in the movie.

Gunn replied with an emoji of a pair of eyeballs, leaving fans to take that as a sign Rocket is in fact going to be killed off. Unfortunately, he would not give a definitive answer, so Marvel fanatics are going to have to wait and see what happens on the big screen.

Another fan pointedly said: “About to p**s me off when rocket dies (if he does) they don’t need to die [laughing emoji] send em off world for a bit. Simple.” (sic)

Gunn replied: “No one said he was going to die but that’s not how stories work.” (sic) (Via The Direct)

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 hits cinemas on May 5.

Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 are available to stream on Disney Plus now.
