Jason Statham fights dinosaur-eating giant sharks in Meg 2 trailer | Films | Entertainment

It’s been five years since Jason Statham starred as rescue diver Jonas Taylor in The Meg, in which he took on a 75-foot-long megalodon shark on the floor of the Pacific Ocean.

Now the action legend is back for round two in Ben Wheatley’s Meg 2: The Trench, after the first trailer opened with a Meg munching on a T-Rex.

The synopsis for the bonkers-looking popcorn blockbuster reads: “Dive into uncharted waters with Jason Statham and global action icon Wu Jing as they lead a daring research team on an exploratory dive into the deepest depths of the ocean. Their voyage spirals into chaos when a malevolent mining operation threatens their mission and forces them into a high-stakes battle for survival.

“Pitted against colossal Megs and relentless environmental plunderers, our heroes must outrun, outsmart, and outswim their merciless predators in a pulse-pounding race against time.”

Meg 2: The Trench hits UK cinemas on August 4, 2023.
