Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle wore the same ‘controversial’ look

Royal and fashion expert Miranda Holder commented on Princess Kate and Meghan Markle’s style and suggested that they could have “copied each other with their fashion choices”.

The stylist opined that both women “are young and beautiful, and both have an interest in fashion”.

When both women were members of the Royal Family, “they both had to live with the same strict etiquette that restricted the clothes they could wear”.

The expert commented that “when Meghan came into the fold, Kate was already very established in the Royal Family”.

The then Duchess of Cambridge “knew was she was doing and pretty much had the whole dress code worked out”.

Meghan, however, “had a bit of a baptism of fire, she hit the ground running, was not prepared for everything that came her way and had to learn on the job as it were,” Miranda opined.

The expert suggested that as Kate had been so successful as a member of the Royal Family, “I think it was only natural that Meghan looked to Kate for inspiration for how to dress”.

Meghan and Kate have worn almost identical outfits on many occasions, including the navy lace dress by Diane von Furstenberg Meghan wore in Hollywood in 2012 and Kate donned two years later.

Personal stylist Melissa Lund revealed that both Kate and Meghan recently opted for a “controversial” royal look first worn by Princess Diana.

She commented: “Members of the Royal Family haven’t always got it right over the years. Princess Diana’s off-the-shoulder gowns were also seen as a bit racy. There’s a long one which is known as the Travolta dress because she’s dancing with John Travolta while she’s wearing it.”

The Princess of Wales wore a black and white off-the-shoulder gown for the Top Gun premiere last year, while Meghan Markle opted for a daring white dress to attend the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Ripple Of Hope Gala in New York a few months later.
