Keanu Reeves returned for another bloody and brutal outing as his unstoppable hitman earlier this year in John Wick Chapter 4.
And following the film’s box office success with over $430 million taken worldwide, fans have been wondering if John Wick 5 is on the way.
However, there is just one problem: John Wick died at the end of Chapter 4. Or did he?
The hitman was shown clutching his wounds but we didn’t actually see him kick the bucket before Winston and the Bowery King visited his grave.
Perhaps the idea of John Wick is dead and the man himself is alive elsewhere? It’s certainly a possibility as franchise director Chad Stahelski spoke out in a new interview.
Speaking with the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the John Wick franchise director shared: “Yeah, Keanu and I have talked. Keanu, if you ask him right now, ‘Would you do John Wick 5?’ He’d be, ‘f**k yeah’.
“But then he’d look and go, ‘Well, what is it? I have no f**king idea.’ That’s all. Believe me. It’s not like, ‘We’re going to figure it out today.’
“Like, look man, we’re going to do our other stuff for a little bit, but if I was driving in the car or if I was walking the dog and an idea hit me, within 30 seconds I’d be on the phone to Keanu and we’d be riffing.”
In the meantime, there are more outings in the John Wick franchise coming sooner rather than later.
First up is the 1970s set The Continental miniseries, about Winston in the early days of the New York assassin’s hotel, which will be streaming on Amazon Prime in September.
Then there’s Ballerina, a spin-off movie starring Ana de Armas set in between John Wick Chapters 3 and 4. Reeves will reprise his hitman in this film set for release on June 7, 2024.
Perhaps John Wick 5 would see a team-up between the two assassins?
