Yves Saint Laurent (YSL) Beauty, the French luxury brand’s cosmetic line, encourages the idea of “beauty as a signature”, said YSL makeup artist Enzo Fournier.
“Everyone has their own unique beauty DNA,” said Fournier, adding that there are “no strict rules” when it comes to choosing the best lipstick shades that are specific to eye colours.
There are, however, Fournier’s top recommendations to bear in mind when it comes to complimentary hues to achieve a beautiful look.
For brown eyes, YSL Rouge Pur Couture lipsticks offer a range of colours that would look great for brown-eyed beauties.
Fournier suggested opting for shades such as “warm reds, rich browns, and deep plums that can complement the warmth and depth of brown eyes”.
Blue-eyed men and women, on the other hand, would benefit from the YSL LOVESHINE collection that offers shades such as coral or peach.
These lipstick shades “add warmth and contrast to blue eyes”, Fournier elaborated, but bold choices are also encouraged.

People who have green eyes can consider exploring an array of different shades to enhance their beautiful peepers.
“Experiment with shades like rosy pinks or warm berries to complement your green eyes,” advised Fournier.
“Meanwhile, bold colours like dark plum or deep red from YSL Rouge Pur Couture line can create a striking contrast.”
To highlight the unique tones found in hazel eyes, a versatile number of lipstick shades could work well to bring together a flawless look.
“YSL Rouge Pur Couture The Slim Velvet Radical offers a velvety finish in various shades,” said Fournier.
“Try soft pinks, warm nudes, or mauves to enhance the complexity of hazel eyes.”

So while you may follow Fournier’s recommendations for lipstick hues based on your eye colour, makeup by its very nature is playful.
