Next James Bond favourite speaks out on Daniel Craig 007 replacement rumours | Films | Entertainment

The Hobbit and Beauty and the Beast star Luke Evans is currently 14-1 to be the next Bond. If he bagged the role he’d been the second Welsh actor to play 007 after Timothy Dalton and the first gay star.

Appearing on BBC’s Saturday Kitchen, the 43-year-old was asked point blank if he was up for being Craig’s replacement. He replied coyly: “The new James Bond? Who knows. Nobody knows. I mean it would be nice, wouldn’t it? Don’t jinx it.”

That’s certainly not a no, but since he’s in his mid-forties he might get overlooked given that producer Michael G Wilson admitted a few months ago that someone in their thirties is what they’re looking for. In fact, there’s one actor in that age range who’s rumoured to have had a gun barrel screen test.
