A stray puppy has made an inspiring transformation after she was discovered waiting patiently for help on the front porch of a family’s home.
With no one to claim her, the young puppy seemingly wandered in from the streets before helping herself onto the front porch of the property.
Unlike most stray dogs who seek shelter in hidden places around the places they encounter, she waited patiently for the owners of the home to find her.
On their arrival, the family was quick to call a rescue team, who confirmed the dog was physically unharmed when they arrived at the scene.
The rescuers had no information about how the animal was raised or came to become a stray pup, but a lack of human interaction caused the dog to distrust humans.
It was clear the dog did not want to move, however, as she became overwhelmingly defensive when rescuers tried to coax her to safety.
“We received a call that a small dog showed up on someone’s porch,” SRSL explained in a Facebook video. “They thought she might be injured because she wouldn’t get up.”
The dog, later named Babbit, fled from rescue staff at each attempt to rescue her, barking as loudly as she could to scare them off.
After offering the pup some treats, she became more trusting of her rescuers, allowing them to lead her away from the house.
“What a difference 24 hours can make,” a caption read. “This baby totally broke our hearts. She was expecting to be hurt by us.”
The post continued: “What happened to you, little one? What happens when she feels safe and is surrounded by love and kindness?
In an update later posted to Facebook, the rescue centre explained Babbit had found a new lease of life since meeting her foster parents and foster sibling.
The update read: “Babbit has been cuddling with them on the couch, and she loves their little dog – her twin! Look at these two, they are perfect together!”
Though the young puppy is still eagerly waiting to find her permanent home, the staff at the shelter are confident it’s a matter of time before someone takes her in.
