The Biden-Harris re-election campaign has released two new television ads targeting Black Americans, claiming that Donald Trump would be a disaster for them if he wins a second term as president.
The ads, titled “Back” and “Price,” feature President Biden appealing directly to Black voters in a re-election ad for the first time. Biden criticizes Trump’s handling of the economy, cutting health insurance, giving tax breaks to the wealthy, fueling racial violence, attacking voting rights, and hinting at dictatorship if re-elected.
These ads are set to run from March 17 to April 21 in critical swing states, including Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. The campaign plans to show the ads on Black-owned platforms like NewsOne, Blavity, and The Shade Room, along with streaming platforms airing NCAA basketball games.
This is the second time the Biden-Harris 2024 team has targeted Black voters in battleground states. Previously, during Black History Month, the campaign aired ads highlighting promises made to the Black community.
In contrast, Trump has been making efforts to appeal to Black voters, attending events, and hinting at choosing a Black running mate. Quentin Fulks, a campaign manager for the Biden-Harris re-election campaign, criticized Trump’s policies, citing higher unemployment and uninsured rates, mishandling of COVID-19 response, and dismantling rules combating housing bias against Black Americans.
Fulks praised Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for increasing Black wealth and lowering Black unemployment, as well as forgiving student loan debt that disproportionately impacts Black borrowers. He emphasized the importance of the upcoming election for Black Americans and contrasted the campaign’s approach with what he sees as Trump’s failures.
The Biden-Harris re-election campaign continues to speak out against what they perceive as Trump’s history of “anti-Black” comments. However, with some doubts arising among Black voters in swing states, such as Georgia, about Biden’s messaging, the campaign faces challenges in securing strong support.
In the midst of these discussions, the tone shifts to a critical perspective on the Biden-Harris re-election campaign and their messaging directed at Black voters, emphasizing the need for transparency and honest engagement with the community.
