Brian May announces album launch live stream today from Abbey Road Studios | Music | Entertainment

Sir Brian May, who turns 76 on Wednesday, shows no sign of retiring anytime soon.

Aside from Queen and Adam Lambert’s upcoming North American tour later this year, the guitarist likes to keep busy with his many projects.

Over the last couple of years, he’s been remastering and re-releasing a Gold Series of his solo work.

Following the new launches of Back to the Light and Another World is Brian May and Friends’ Star Fleet Sessions (which you can preorder right here).

It was 40 years ago when the rock legend was taking a break from Queen in Los Angeles and one morning called up some pals on a whim, including Eddie Van Halen, to record this mini-album together.

Now a brand new version including unheard takes has been released and today Sir Brian is live streaming the album launch from his Instagram account as he did for the previous two in the Gold Series.

Sir Brian posted a video on Instagram in which he said: “Hi folks, this is Bri plucking up courage to do Instagram again. It’s been a while and I kind of feel I lost the knack… to celebrate that we are planning to transmit once again on Bri-TV this coming Monday, pretty much all day intermittently because I’ll be doing interviews.”

And last night he posted: “BRI-TV will be on the air tomorrow !! Right here on my IG feed – from about 9am UK time – hopefully !!! BRI X”

Sir Brian added: “Well, in about 10 hours time actually … eeek !Are you ready for this ? Am I ?!!!

“Well, if you’re around early-ish in the morning, please join me for random moments in my STAR FLEET launch day ! Cheers Space Warriors ! We come in all disguises ! Just call me BRI-X !!! Bri”
