Doria Ragland, 66, along with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry attended the Ms. Foundation Women of Vision Awards: Celebrating Generations of Progress & Power last week.
The event took place at the Ziegfeld Ballroom on May 16 in New York City, where the Duchess of Sussex was presented with an award from Gloria Steinem.
For the occasion, Doria looked stunning in a mini black dress that ended just above her knees with balloon sheer sleeves.
The dress had a deep V-neck, which allowed her gorgeous gold necklace to be clearly seen.
Doria’s necklace was a gold chain with a circular gold pendant at the bottom, that appeared to be engraved with something.

Not only this, but Doria’s necklace also had a birthstone on the gold chain just above the circular pendant.
The Instagram account @whatmeghanwore discovered that Doria’s gold necklace likely had a hidden meaning.
They wrote: “It looks like Doria wore a charm with ‘Archie & Lilibet’ hand engraved on it.”
The gold necklace matched Meghan’s beautiful gold Johanna Ortiz dress, but it also contained a tribute to her two grandchildren.
Therefore, the pendant was a hugely sentimental choice for Doria to wear to the Ms. Foundation Women of Vision Awards.
Doria’s necklace also included a birthstone just above the circular pendant.
Royal fans loved Doria’s necklace and took to social media to praise the grandmother of two’s style choice.
Instagram user @twinnera said: “I love it when grandmothers wear jewellery with their grandchildren’s names on it.
“My grandmother had a charm bracelet with eight charms with the names of her eight grandchildren.”
In addition, @jennywasiuk85 wrote: “Looks a lot like Merci Maman jewellery, in particular the birthstone chain necklace.”
Royal fan @arty.momma added: “What a sweet momento of her beautiful grandchildren! Lovely.”
Instagram account @amaliaathome commented: “Cute charm for a beautiful woman!”
Doria paired her gold necklace with some matching gold earrings when the 66-year-old stepped out in New York.
In addition to her black mini dress, Doria wore a pair of Tabitha Simmons “Millie” black suede slingback pumps from a past season.
The Duchess of Sussex previously wore these shoes on a royal tour to Australia and the South Pacific in 2018.
It is not confirmed whether Doria borrowed the shoes from Meghan’s closet or if she already owned a pair herself.
