The new training academy at King’s College Hospital is designed for nurses, midwives and allied healthcare professionals.
For her visit to the NHS hospital, the Duchess of Edinburgh donned a polka dot dress in cream and black from ME+EM which retails for £206.
The maxi dress is “crafted from semi-sheer printed georgette and arrives with a separate fashion first aid slip dress”, the designer’s website explained.
Sophie styled her hair in a simple half updo and opted for a natural makeup look, and she was absolutely stunning.
On social media, King’s College NHS explained: “For #NHS75 today, we were delighted that HRH The Duchess of Edinburgh visited King’s to officially open our brand new training academy!”
The Duchess was given a tour of the new facility, met with staff, signed the visitor’s book and unveiled a plaque.
During the visit, Sophie also cut a special birthday cake to mark the 75th anniversary of the NHS.
“The cake was made by one of our super-talented nurses, Irene de la Cruz!” King’s College NHS said on Twitter.
Royal fans took to social media to discuss Sophie’s style and many opined that the dress made her look younger.
On Instagram, @its_sarah_21x said: “Beautiful as ever!” and @betsomo commented: “A sweet dress and perfect for a working engagement.”
@j_asmiin agreed saying: “A simple, beautiful white dress is sometimes all it takes. Sophie looks beautiful.”
Social media user @ellainthecityboston commented that Sophie looked “lovely in a beautiful updated classic dress, ageless”.
Another one, @yoguimonster, said: “Love this on her!” and suggested that the dress “brightens up her face and strips 20 years off”.
On Instagram, @corny__o added: “Great. This kind of white is very nice for her.”
