Jan didn’t share any details about the cause of death but the family will be sharing details about celebrating the life of the musician.

The news comes after it was revealed Dwight had broken his leg and was waiting for surgery.

In a Facebook post on Dwight’s page from five days ago, an update read: “Dwight Twilley broke his leg!

“Has to hang up his Dancin’ shoes for a while, OUCH!”

Fans were given further details in the comments section under the post, which read: “They gotta screw some screws into his Tibia… But ‘His hair was perfect.'”

Singer-songwriter Dwight was best known for his tracks Girls and I’m On Fire.

In the late 1960s, Dwight met Phil Seymour and the pair formed the group Oister and later recruited part-time member Bill Pitcock IV.

He also released music as a solo artist with his self-titled album in 1979.

More recently, his song Looking for the Magic was featured in Netflix shows House of Cards and Mindhunter.
