Elvis Presley split from his wife, Priscilla Presley, in 1972, before their divorce was finalised in 1973.
Shortly after their separation, however, the King of Rock and Roll met Linda Thompson, the woman he would spend the next four years with.
The pair fell in love quickly, and Elvis lived to please her. He bought her things, took her to glitzy events, and paraded the young beauty queen in front of the paparazzi.
However, when the time came for Linda to meet Priscilla, Elvis got extremely nervous.
The feeling was mutual for Linda, as well. She had already spent a lot of time with Elvis’ daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, but she was particularly wary about meeting Elvis’ ex-wife in a formal setting.

Just before Elvis and Linda met up with Priscilla, the King asked Linda one final favour.
“Honey,” he said. “Do me a favour. You’re probably going to meet Priscilla. Don’t wear all the rings and other jewellery I’ve given you.”
Elvis’ request was not because he was hiding anything from Priscilla, though, he explained he didn’t want to make her feel self-conscious about her own relationship with him.
“I never gave Priscilla that much jewellery,” Elvis said. “I gave her things, sure, but not nearly like I’ve showered you with gifts.”
He added: “I don’t want to make her feel bad.”
Linda did as she was asked and took off her various rings, bangles, bracelets and necklaces before meeting Priscilla.
Linda remembered when she first met Priscilla she was very “cordial” and polite.
What stuck out, however, was that Priscilla thanked Linda for being so kind to her daughter, Lisa Marie.
Linda and Lisa Marie went on to have a great relationship, even after she and Elvis split up in 1976.
