Eight years ago, George Miller delivered Mad Max: Fury Road, his fourth entry into his post-apocalyptic action thriller series.
Tom Hardy’s titular character starred opposite Charlize Theron’s Imperator Furiosa, a one-armed war captain under the tyrant Immortan Joe.
Now the long-awaited prequel has arrived starring Anya Taylor-Joy as the young Furiosa, with a trailer giving an action-fuelled first look.
Immortan Joe also returns, played in his youth by Lachy Hulme, while Chris Hemsworth stars as the main antagonist, Warlord Dementus.
The blockbuster’s official synopsis reads: “As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. Sweeping through the Wasteland, they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe.
“While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home.”
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga will hit UK cinemas on May 24, 2024.
