Two years on from Ghostbusters: Afterlife and the fourth Ghostbusters movie in the main series has its first trailer today.

As previously leaked, the title is Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire and the Oklahoma action of the last movie moves back to New York City.

This time around, the family of the late Harold Ramis’ Egon Spengler and Paul Rudd’s Gary Grooberson team up with Bill Murray’s Venkman, Dan Aykroyd’s Ray and Ernie Hudson’s Winston to take on a chilling supernatural enemy freezing people to death in the height of summer.

The film’s official synopsis reads: “In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the Spengler family returns to where it all started – the iconic New York City firehouse – to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who’ve developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level.

“But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.”

The film co-stars Finn Wolfhard, McKenna Grace, Carrie Coon, Annie Potts, William Atherton, Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt and more.

It’s also written and produced by Jason Reitman who directed Ghostbusters: Afterlife following his father Ivan Reitman’s original 1980s films. Gil Kenan directs this time around.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire hits cinemas on March 29, 2024.
