Girls Aloud rumoured for Glastonbury 2024 headline slot | Music | Entertainment

Girls Aloud fans just had all their dreams come true.

A new report from The Sun claims the classic girlband are working on new music behind the scenes.

While this is exceedingly exciting, the real news is that the band – which was originally comprised of Cheryl Tweedy, Nadine Coyle, Sarah Harding, Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh – are also planning on hitting the road in the UK for a monumental comeback tour.

And, if that wasn’t enough, Alex Apati from Ladbrokes LIVE believes this will be the beginning of the long road to Glastonbury Festival 2024.

Yes, you read that right, Girls Aloud have just had their odds slashed on joining the likes of Sir Paul McCartney, Beyoncé, Jay Z, Dolly Parton and Elton John as the festival’s headliners.

The Ladbrokes LIVE spokesman confirmed Girls Aloud’s odds on headlining Glastonbury 2024 have now been slashed to 3/1.

Apati commented: “Girls Aloud have sent the pop world into complete meltdown this morning with the announcement of a new single… and given the reception they’ve had, we wouldn’t be surprised to see them take centre stage at Glastonbury next year.”

This would be an incredible comeback for the band – especially after they lost a former member of the band, Sarah Harding, to cancer in 2021.

A source told The Sun this week: “This has been one of the best-kept secrets in pop, but it’s actually happening now.

“The girls really came back together as friends to rally around when Sarah died, and it repaired some of the old rifts and put things into perspective. Suddenly the reunion which had seemed totally impossible for so long just felt a totally natural thing to do — in Sarah’s honour.”

The source went on to add that the group are “planning to make more music before taking it out on the road”.

They added: “They’ve got a single and a video in the can, plans for a full record of new music, and for the fans the most exciting thing will be a massive reunion tour in 2024.

“It’s going to be huge — and they’re all very excited to be back working together, even if there is a bittersweet element to it.”

Here’s hoping we hear the Sound of the Underground again soon.
