Glastonbury Festival has opened its gates and hundreds of thousands of fans have arrived at Worthy Farm to see the star-studded line-up perform over the weekend.
Unfortunately, this week has been tough for Friday night’s headliner, Arctic Monkeys.
The band cancelled their Tuesday night show in Dublin after singer Alex Turner was diagnosed with “acute laryngitis”.
As a result, fans have begun speculating that the band would eventually pull out of their headline slot.
However, a new Instagram post from Turner’s long-term girlfriend, Louise Veneuil, seems to have confirmed the fate of the band’s weekend.
The French singer posted an image of her strapped into a car while travelling.
She captioned the image: “Go Glasto.” (Via The Mirror)
If Veneuil is attending, it is extremely likely that she is joining her partner, Turner, along the way.
Turner hasn’t been seen in public since he cancelled the show in Dublin earlier this week.
Arctic Monkeys issued a statement that claimed doctors had told him to rest.
Fans on Twitter speculated that it would be a struggle for Turner to bring his voice back up to speed for Friday night.
One wrote: “Back in 2013, Alex Turner had to cancel shows due to laryngitis and was back on stage five days after the first cancellation. He has four days to get his voice ready for the Arctic Monkeys’ Glastonbury set on Friday… hopefully it won’t risk damage but that’s a bit touch and go.” (sic)
In the meantime, Ladbrokes have given Arctic Monkeys 5/2 odds on them cancelling their show this weekend.
The bookies’ Alex Apati said: “Alex Turner has sent Glastonbury-goers into meltdown and with just hours to go until the festival gets underway, fans are hoping he snaps out of it and puts on a show tomorrow night.”
