What’s more, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 is predicted to earn an enormous $288-$403 million in total.
Again, this is just an estimate for the domestic, USA audience, so GotG Vol 3 could earn a lot more money across cinemas around the world, as well.
If these predictions pan out correctly, Vol 3 will likely be deemed a success – but would still be the worst-performing Guardians movie of the trilogy.
The first Guardians movie ended its cinema run with an enormous $333.7 million domestic box office. Meanwhile, Vol 2 had a whopping $389 million.
Whether Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 is deemed successful or not, fans are no doubt excited to see how the heroes’ story will be brought to an end – but it does not look like it will be a happy experience for anyone.
James Gunn, the Guardians series director, just teased what could be a major death in the upcoming movie.
Gunn’s fans have been quizzing the film-maker about the events of the upcoming movie on his Instagram account. One pointed out they hoped “Rocket dies” in the picture.
The notion that Rocket might die has been around since the film’s first trailer hit the internet. In the movie’s sneak preview, Rocket can be seen revisiting trauma from his early life, while Peter Quill / Star-Lord was spotted crying over a body. Could it have been Rocket’s death that sent him into an emotional spiral?
Gunn replied to this comment with an emoji of a pair of eyeballs; perhaps hinting that the fan had guessed exactly correct.
Another fan chimed in to announce: “About to p**s me off when rocket dies (if he does) they don’t need to die [laughing emoji] send em off world for a bit. Simple.” (sic)
Gunn responded: “No one said he was going to die but that’s not how stories work.” (sic) (Via The Direct)
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 hits cinemas on May 5.
Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 are available to stream on Disney Plus now.
