Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 left Chris Pratt ’emotional’ | Films | Entertainment

Marvel fans will see the end of the journey for the Guardians on May 5 when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 hits cinemas. While it is not yet known if the galactic heroes are going to survive, Star-Lord actor Chris Pratt has described the end of the journey as “really emotional” – but will he be back?

Pratt recently spoke to Comic Book where he described bringing his journey as a Marvel Cinematic Universe hero to an end.

He explained: “It was really emotional for so many reasons … It was a lot of gratitude around the fact that James Gunn actually directed it and was able to do that. Just grateful that he even gave me the job to begin with.”

The Super Mario Bros star went on to call his experience in the MCU an “incredible ten years”. He continued: “So to wrap it up in this way, it’s, it’s a little bit like your last day of school when you’re a senior. You’re so excited that it’s over, but at the same time, you don’t know if you’re going to see any of your friends ever again.”

The 43-year-old even teased that some of his fellow stars may be leaving the series after the movie. He mused: “Some of them are going off to college, and some of them are leaving, and some are going in the Army. It’s like entering a new phase, and a new chapter of your life. It’s the turning of a page.”

At the time of writing, no further Guardians of the Galaxy films have been announced just yet.

This will likely be James Gunn’s final outing with Marvel as director, as he recently took on a co-chairman job with DC Studios to reinvent their comic book movie film slate.

However, that doesn’t mean the Guardians heroes (such as Drax, Gamora, Rocket and Groot) will not turn up in future Marvel movies, much like they did in Avengers Endgame and Thor: Love and Thunder.

Whether or not Pratt will be returning to the series going forward, he was keen to point out how happy he was that he proved his critics wrong.

Pratt continued: “It felt gratifying, knowing that critics had said that it would likely be the first Marvel movie to bomb. And what was that gonna be like, to be the first Marvel movie to not be successful? To take these characters that no one knew, and now have them be household names, and to be part of that, and to have rides around the world.”

Although fans may not see Pratt again as Peter Quill, he may still work with James Gunn once again.

Pratt recently opened up about having a conversation with Gunn about potentially joining the DC Universe in the near future.

He “insisted” that Gunn hasn’t offered him a part in the new-and-improved DC Universe – thus far. However, he admitted he would “answer the call” from Gunn if it came.

“As far as DC characters pan,” Pratt said. “I don’t know. I will let the fans tell me what they would want me to do. I don’t have anything official to announce. I haven’t spoken to James Gunn in any capacity to where he’s offered me anything like that.”

He added: “But listen, I love the guy. You know, he’s one of my best friends. I totally believe in him. And if he calls me, I am answering.”

Perhaps once Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 comes out all will become clear about Pratt’s future in the comic book movie space.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 arrives in cinemas on May 5.

Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 are available to stream on Disney Plus now.
