Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 theory: Adam Warlock has secret relation to an Avenger | Films | Entertainment

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 is just around the corner, and fans are deep in theories about how the latest Marvel story is going to slot into the ongoing narrative. And while a lot of emphases has been placed on Star-Lord and Rocket in the trailers, the new series antagonist, Adam Warlock, has been sidelined. Is it because he plays a massive part in the ongoing Marvel narrative? Fans think so, as they believe he is related to a member of the Guardians.

Fans know that Adam Warlock has been created by the Sovereign, who were last seen in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. At the end of the movie, the queen, Ayesha, revealed she had built Adam in a pod.

Reddit user Gueswhobaktelafren believes that Adam was not just built by the Sovereign, but was created using the DNA of an already god-like Avenger: Peter Quill.

They wrote: “The opening sequence where the Sovereign Queen talks about being interested in Quills unique DNA is brushed off as a joke and also foreshadows his DNA coming from Ego.” (sic)

During the events of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, fans learn that Peter is half celestial, so he had incredible powers (until he murdered his father, Ego, that is).

“After Ego was destroyed,” the fan continued. “They [the Sovereign] could go back and find that DNA considering they were all there for the final battle.” (sic)

The Sovereign really hate the Guardians because they stole treasure from them at the beginning of Vol 2. So building a new warrior out of Peter’s DNA would be a fantastic act of revenge.

But it would also make Adam Warlock a direct relative to Star-Lord – perhaps a brother or even a son.

The Redditor went on to point out: “The whole [GotG] series deals with family very specifically and I think they’ll find this out and he will be sort of like Quills brother or something to begin with adding to the family hijinks.” (sic)

Another Marvel fan agreed with this theory, as well: “Good catch! GotG isn’t just about family, it puts an emphasis on created family units – Adam being a family member of Quill who was literally created makes sense and an extension of the theme.”

This would not be the first time Peter’s lineage has come back to him in new an exciting ways.

During the Guardians of The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special it was revealed Mantis was, actually, created by Ego as well, making her Peter’s sister.

What’s more, if Adam Warlock truly is Peter’s brother, they may end up as allies by the end of the movie. And that means he could end up becoming part of the new team of Avengers that is being built up back on Earth.

Adam Warlock’s arrival would also fill the gap made by any potential death in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 – and there’s rumoured to be a big one.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 director James Gunn recently teased the death of Rocket Raccoon in the upcoming movie.

Considering the film’s trailer showed off Rocket’s origins and teased his untimely demise, fans began quizzing the director on if the character would finally be killed off.

Gunn meekly replied with an emoji of a pair of eyes, teasing that they may be on to something.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 hits cinemas on May 5.

Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 are available to stream on Disney Plus now.
