Harry Styles Wembley Stadium review – As good as it gets | Music | Entertainment

Harry Styles is a pretty big deal. Yeah, that seems like an obvious statement when the 29-year-old has won six Brit Awards, three Grammy Awards, an Ivor Novello Award, and three American Music Awards, as well as three number-one albums. But I don’t think I quite realised how profoundly famous he is.

My sheltered illusion was shattered on June 13, 2023, in Club Wembley‘s Bobby Moore lounge when I looked around and saw all kinds of people, of every age imaginable, vibrating with anticipation to see the British icon hit the stage.

And when the former One Direction star hit finally arrived on Wembley Stadium’s hallowed grounds the fans’ energy exploded into utter delight, obliterating the memory of all other pop stars that played the prestigious venue before.

Kicking off his enormous and varied set with Daydreaming and Golden, Harry quickly settled into the powerhouse persona he has become well known for on TikTok.

Adore You followed and highlighted how he was not just a pretty face and a rapid ball of energy, but a real vocalist who has, in leaps and bounds, built a stunning soundscape that only he could truly explore.

Between tracks, Harry’s personality shone through. “Honey, I’m home!” he yelled, addressing his triumphant return to London in his expansive “Love On Tour” tour. His effortlessly likeable energy bled into the rafters throughout the entire show, while his cheeky, devil-may-care attitude performance style created the perfect atmosphere for everyone to dance, sing, and forget their worries.

Perhaps that’s what struck me most at Harry’s show. Everyone felt so comfortable. Countless fans lay on the floor to stargaze as he crooned Fine Line to raised lighters and phone flashlights. Conga lines were peppered throughout the expansive standing area, while every single person in seated sections was on their feet and moving. He’s built an encapsulating experience that somehow felt intimate, despite the fact he was playing to over 80,000 people across a mile.

The One Direction fervour is still very much pushing him along into superstardom, though. A cover of What Makes You Beautiful seemed like child’s play to him now (Harry has been performing it for almost ten years, after all), but it earned him a raucous response from the crowd who became incandescent with glee.

Ultimately, though, it didn’t really matter what Harry played. He’s simply so entertaining to watch sing, dance, perform, and live his best life that he could have busted out a setlist full of covers and he still would have been exceptional.

Harry Styles is, easily, the most spectacularly vivid performer of the age, and as long as he keeps hitting stages around the world, happiness will reign supreme.
