Joyland review: A delicate and beautifully observed human drama | Films | Entertainment

Softly spoken unemployed man Haider (Ali Junejo) breaks with religious traditions and cultural gender norms after he lands a job as a backing dancer to transgender theatre star Biba (Alina Khan).

While Joyland is considered wildly provocative in Sadiq’s home nation (it is still banned in some regions), Western audiences should find it a delicate and beautifully observed human drama.
