Kate Middleton’s dress in Solomon Islands receives ‘criticism’ but it wasn’t her fault

Kate, Princess of Wales is a royal style icon who looks immaculate whether she is on the red carpet or a walkabout.

She has wowed in incredible gowns and casual ensembles alike, and rarely misses due to the amount of attention that goes into the royal wardrobe, plus her talented stylist Natasha Archer.

However, Kate is only human and it is to be expected that occasionally her outfits are not quite on point.

This can be due to an error or even a weather mishap, said personal stylist and image coach Melissa Lund.

She spoke to Express.co.uk about some of the Princess’ very rare fashion mishaps over the years.

The clothes Kate and Will ended up wearing were a magenta pink patterned strapless dress and a blue and white patterned shirt, respectively.

A spokesperson from Clarence House said: “We saw they weren’t the same design of the traditional clothes we were told would be gifted, so we checked with the Solomon Islands government to ensure the right ones were worn.

“We were reassured the clothes were correct, and so the Duke and Duchess wore them to the event.

“It was not learned until later in the evening that the clothes weren’t from the islands.

“But it was understood that the Duke and Duchess intended to wear traditional Solomon Island clothes and this was appreciated. No offence was caused.”

Kate’s dress was by Cook Island designer Ellena Tavioni Pittman of design house TAV.
