Princess Kate is known for looking picture-perfect no matter the royal occasion, but she has actually had training to help her always look flawless in photographs.
It’s no secret that Kate has a passion for photography and has a hands-on approach when it comes to photographs of her children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. Most photographs of the royal children shared with the public were taken by the Princess herself.
Kate learned how to take photographs from her grandfather and also took classes on photography while studying art history at St Andrew’s University. However, the Princess has combined both her photography and media training to learn a photography trick that makes her look incredible while at public engagements.
Miranda Holder, a fashion expert, explained that Kate has mastered a certain pose that it easy to look photogenic just like the Princess.
She said: “Have you ever wondered why Kate Middleton looks so stunning in her photographs? Because she does [in] every single one. [Kate] has had some media training and I’m going to share a cheeky little style hack that she uses every single time without fail.”
Miranda is a celebrity stylist who enjoys explaining the detail behind royal clothing on her TikTok account @themirandaholder, and in a recent video, she said Kate is able to take a good picture through the way she poses her chin.
Miranda explained: “[Kate] has simply been trained to always keep her chin parallel to the ground. She doesn’t tilt it down, she doesn’t tilt it up and ensures a flattering photograph every single time.”
Kate’s chin trick has also been confirmed by professional photographer Olivia West, who said the Princess “positions her chin” to showcase her smile.
In an interview with The Sun, Olvia said: “Kate always does the ‘out and down’ with the chin which makes your face look much better. Most people bring their chin back when they smile causing a kind of chinny grin which isn’t flattering.
“I always tell people to imagine they are looking over a fence, you slide your chin over then just dip the chin – you can’t pull it back because the fence is in the way.”
Some royal fans believed Kate could take a good photograph no matter what, and doubted if the photography trick could work for them.
In Miranda’s comment section, one user said: “[Kate] couldn’t look bad if she tried” while another person wrote: “[Kate] is simply beautiful and elegant whatever angle it may be.”
In another video, Miranda responded and explained that every person can take a good photograph no matter their appearance, and being able to pose properly can help anybody no matter their appearance.
Miranda said: “A whole load of you have come back saying, ‘No, it’s just because she’s good-looking, and she’s wealthy and she’s got stylists.’ That’s not true.
“So I can tell you from years of working with supermodels, celebrities, and models that you can be the most gorgeous person in the world and still get a horrific photograph. So it really is all about your relationship to the camera and where you place your jaw. If it’s too low, it’s not good, if it’s too high—definitely not good; we don’t want to see your nostrils.”
