Kate turns heads in red gown & £74 earrings for Royal Ascot 2023 debut

Princess Kate made her debut at Royal Ascot 2023 as she arrived alongside Prince William for day four of the event.

The royal looked effortlessly glamorous in a bright red midi dress by Alexander McQueen and a matching Philip Treacy hat.

Staying true to her signature style, the dress featured a modest v-neckline, long sleeves, and a flattering a-line skirt.

It appeared to be a new style for the 41-year-old despite being known to re-wear outfits – even for special occasions.

While Kate did not attend the previous days of Royal Ascot, she has been a loyal guest throughout her royal “career”.

The Princess of Wales’s tailored dress featured subtle details including ruched details on the shoulder seam.

While its vibrant red hue was hard to miss, the pleated skirt, belted waist, and soft v-neck added extra glamour to the whole look. Kate teamed the dress with a matching red clutch bag, shoes, and hat for a tonal look.

The Alexander McQueen gown is a new bespoke number, as is the Philip Treacy hat. Kate’s statement earrings are known as the “Esmee Gold Brass Earrings” by Sezane, and retail for $95 (£74).

In a nod to her senior role in the Royal Family, the Princess was sure to make a patriotic tribute by pairing her tonal red outfit with the blue detailing in her jewellery.

While the Princess of Wales’s dress was the focus of her Royal Ascot look, her trademark brunette locks also impressed fans.

The royal wore her long curled waves loosely tied back in a classic up-do known as the chignon bun- as she often does when wearing a hat.

To complete her glamorous look, Kate donned a pair of statement gold earrings which perfectly complemented her outfit. Princess Kate’s red shoes were also in keeping with her go-to style of wearing stiletto court heels in suede fabric.

Kate clutched a designer bag by Hermès to complete her bespoke red outfit. The leather style is known as the “Vintage Hermès Rio clutch”, and is made with a deep red leather body.

Reportedly made in 1988, the French design has since been discontinued and is one of a kind. It is worth approximately €1150 (£985.50).

Last year she captured the eyes of audiences in a bright white chiffon midi dress adorned in brown Polka dots.

The classic style by Alessandra Rich featured a high neckline and ruched detail on the chest and cuffs.

Teamed with a brown hat and statement jewels – including her iconic Sapphire encrusted wedding ring, the occasion marked one of Kate’s most memorable style moments.

In previous years, the royal wore very similar dresses to the racing event, with whites and neutrals a go-to colourway for the Princess of Wales.

This year, her statement red look pays homage to her first visit to Royal Ascot in a senior role as the Princess of Wales.

Back in 2019 when she held the more junior title of the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate styled a blue midi dress covered in subtle pearls by Ellie Saab.

In 2017, she paid tribute to her unforgettable wedding gown in a cream-coloured knee-grazing lace overlay dress by Alexander McQueen.

Way back in 2016, she styled a very similar style in a longer midi-style white dress by Dolce and Gabanna.
