Margot Robbie’s Barbie looks share same theme as she delivers best yet at Europe premiere | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

Margot Robbie turned heads in a gorgeous floor-length gown at Barbie’s premiere in London this week.

The Australian film star, 33, has been dressed in effortlessly elegant looks throughout the film’s worldwide tour, but fans may not know they all share a common theme.

Barbie’s leading lady has been subtly paying tribute to some of the iconic doll’s classic looks throughout the ages over the past few weeks.

On the pink carpet in Los Angeles she wowed the crowd in a glittery flared black dress which she accessorised with a red rose and diamond choker.

This look was actually lifted wholesale from Barbie’s Solo in the Spotlight doll, down to her coiffed hair and long evening gloves.

Eagle-eyed Barbie enthusiasts soon figured out Robbie has been borrowing looks since promotion for the film began last year, starting with its iconic trailer.

In a tribute to 2001: A Space Odyssey, Robbie appears as a giant Barbie dressed in the black-and-white striped swimsuit and white shades the first-ever doll wore in 1959.

She went on to recreate the look with a bodycon dress in the same pattern during her tour in Australia.

Also in Australia, the actress paired a Versace frock with a tulle skirt for a picture-perfect rendition of 1985’s Day to Night Barbie when she stepped out in Sydney.

During recent press appearances, Robbie swapped out the vintage style for one of Barbie’s slightly more modern looks – this time she took inspiration from the Pink and Fabulous range from 2012.

The dress was updated with a cutout around the stomach, but the tell-tale yellow handbag was a clear clue to where her inspiration lay.

At the film’s premiere in Seoul, South Korea, the Hollywood star recreated the Day to Night Barbie from 1985.

She cut a sharp figure in a bright pink suit and white hat, and paired the outfit with a luxurious £4,842 Judith Leiber clutch bag.

Staying in Seoul, Robbie underwent a stunning transformation and turned back the clocks even further to 1964.

She swapped the suit for a hot pink tribute to the Sparkling Pink Barbie, updating the look with a cropped top, short skirt and heart-shaped handbag.

Her latest outfit at the film’s premiere in London paid tribute to the Enchanted Evening Barbie from 1960, and there will undoubtedly be more unforgettable looks in the film itself.

Barbie releases in cinemas on Friday, July 21.
