Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton both love ‘sheer’ nude lipsticks

Meghan Markle

The Duchess of Sussex chose a natural lip duo instead of lipstick for her royal wedding, layering a lip crayon on top of translucent coral lipgloss.

This helped accentuate her natural lip colour. According to reports, Meghan chose the shade Very Victoria from Charlotte Tilbury’s Matte Revolution lipstick.

This £27 shade of lipstick was created with inspiration from Charlotte Tilbury’s friend Victoria Beckham.

While wearing bold makeup shades is frowned upon according to royal etiquette, Meghan’s love for a nude lip is also a personal preference.

Daniel Martin, her wedding day makeup artist, told PEOPLE: “The one time she did a red lip, she just didn’t feel comfortable in it.”

Kate, Princess of Wales

The Princess attended Wimbledon in 2019 while sporting a 1,850 white dress from Suzannah London and an Alexander McQueen Wicca bag.

Kate was pictured clutching a “Natural Lip Perfector in Rose Shimmer” from Clarins, a beauty item that caused a stir among her fans.

The lipgloss retails for £21 and has the following description: “Lips are left looking soft, smooth, shiny and plump.

“Sheer, but has enough colour to wear alone or to complement your favourite lip shade. This nourishing formula delivers a tint of shimmering colour plus moisture to your lips.

“Smoothes softens and visibly plumps lips with Shea Butter, enriched in Vitamin F. Sensorial melting texture glides over lips and soothes the senses with a delicate vanilla scent.

“Our easy-to-use angled cushion applicator provides the perfect amount of colour for an irresistibly pretty pout.”

Princess Diana

On a Vogue engagement photo shoot, Diana was known to have used Max Factor’s Tint of Pink Lipstick.

Pink Brandy from Max Factor’s Colour Elixir Lipstick has a very similar colour.

Queen Elizabeth II

Her Late Majesty was frequently pictured reapplying her trademark colour and was hardly ever seen without it.

The late Queen wore custom-made Clarins red lipstick to match her ceremonial robes at her 1953 Coronation.

Elizabeth II was also said to have enjoyed Elizabeth Arden’s Beautiful Colour Lipsticks.

Judging by photographs of the late Queen in lipstick, it was likely the shade of Electric Pink that she liked.
