Meghan Markle and Princess Kate have ‘major style differences’

Meghan Markle and Kate, Princess of Wales are exceptionally stylish women but have very different personal tastes.

This may be down to a combination of differences in genuine personal preferences, plus different societal expectations placed on both woman individually.

According to personal stylist, image coach and personal shopper Melissa Lund, the royals often wear the same kind of look but style them wildly differently.

Melissa spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk about the “major differences” in their outfit choices. She classified Meghan’s style as “dramatic”, while Kate’s is more “classic”, focussing on Meghan’s looks from before she joined the Royal Family in her Suits days.

Melissa explained: “Sometimes it’s the cut and fit of the clothes that make the difference and sometimes it’s the accessories.”

Comparing the looks, Melissa observed: “The difference here’s in the accessories. Kate is wearing court shoes, whilst Meghan is wearing high heeled gladiator sandals – the sexier option!”

Both royal women have also stepped out in metallic dresses. At a reception for the launch of the UK-India Year of Culture 2017, Kate wowed in a mid-length, long-sleeved gown in a soft silver.

Meghan’s took on the metallic trend in 2015 at the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards wearing a shorter dress with a plunging neckline.

Melissa said: “Kate once again has chosen a more formal style while Meghan has chosen a shorter dress which almost looks as if it’s made from leather or a coated fabric.”

Finally, Kate dazzled in a floor-length teal dress at the 600th Anniversary Gala Benefit for St. Andrews in New York 2014. Meghan too wore a floor-length teal gown when she stepped out at Elton John AIDS Foundation’s benefit in the same year.

Melissa commented: “Kate has chosen a classic fit and flare number with a fichu neckline from Jenny Packham whilst Meghan goes for a rather more dramatic halter neck and fishtail skirt dress.”
