Meghan Markle has become something of a fashion icon since she joined the Royal Family – and now one fashion expert has broken down some of the “super clever” fashion hacks the Duchess of Sussex used to elevate her latest chic outfit. Meghan celebrated International Women’s Day this March with members of her team at the Archewell Foundation. She was seen with 10 women from the organisation at the Gracias Madre in West Hollywood, a vegan Mexican restaurant.
Meghan was wearing an all-black outfit, including a Max Mara cashmere coat worth $5,990,00 (£4,902,76) and Valentino glasses worth $192 (£157.56).
In a new TikTok video, acclaimed fashion stylist Miranda Holder listed everything that could have gone wrong with Meghan’s outfit.
The stylist said: “Meghan chose to wear head-to-toe black recently for a lunch in LA and this really could have swamped her petite frame.
“The tailored Max Mara jacket could have felt too formal and the high-necked sweater and tailored trousers too severe.“ However, the fashioned expert then explained how the royal “made the look her own.”

Miranda spoke about Meghan’s accessories and said: “We can see an ivory Chanel bag and some pointed flats by Valentino. This helps to lift an otherwise very heavy look and make it more appropriate for Spring.”
Meghan was also able to add “personality” to the outfit according to the stylist by wearing “on-trend” pearl earrings, which matched her Chanel bag and shoes, as well as a “stack of glamorous clattering bracelets”, according to Miranda.
Miranda added: “She made the immaculately cut Max Mara coat look casual by wearing it open. The stand collar is beautifully framing her face.”
She later said: “Other touches were the cropped trouser with the button detailing at the ankle as well as those rolled-up jacket sleeves.
“This little hack is super clever because it exposes the slimmest part of her, her wrists and ankles. Highlighting her slender figure no matter how many layers she’s wearing.”
Finally, the fashion expert noted that Meghan likes to play with texture in order to make her outfits stand out.
Miranda said: “The ribbed sweater, the smooth wool of the coat and the finer materials of the tailored trousers all work together to add a depth of luxury and texture which makes the whole look feel very expensive indeed.”
Fellow diners at the Mexican restaurant told People magazine that the Duchess of Sussex “seemed really happy.” They said: “I still can’t believe it was her. She’s even prettier in real life.”
On its website, Archewell revealed that Meghan and the staff members went to lunch after they had visited Harvest Home as well, a charity dedicated to helping pregnant women who face homelessness.
The website said: “As an advocate for women’s rights and supporter of mothers and families in need, Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex and the Archewell team celebrated the women of Harvest Home by creating a pop-up baby boutique, hosting lunch from a female-owned restaurant, and making a donation to the organization.”
