Next James Bond odds: Rising star now joint-favourite with Henry Cavill | Films | Entertainment

For the past few months, Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been dominating the next James Bond odds.

This came after a report that the 33-year-old had impressed Barbara Broccoli at a secret audition.

Since then the Kick-Ass star has been playing it coy on the subject of 007 in interviews.

However, he’s now been pushed back into second place by Casino Royale runner-up Henry Cavill and a rising star.

The latter pair are now the frontrunners of Sky Bet bookies’ race to be the new Bond.

The rising star in question is 31-year-old Damson Idris, a British-Nigerian actor who played the co-lead in the Netflix sci-fi action movie Outside the Wire and starred in Snowfall.

As it stands he and Cavill are the favourites on 5-2 to be the next Bond, ahead of Taylor-Johnson who is on 2-1.

Behind them is Regé-Jean Page on 3-1, James Norton on 9-2 and Tom Hardy on 8-1.

Further back in the bookies’ race are Richard Madden on 10-2, Paapa Essiedu on 11-1 and both Aidan Turner and Callum Turner on 12-1.

Given the ongoing joint Hollywood actors and writers’ strike, it could be a long time before the next Bond is announced.

Our best bet would be in the spring at the very earliest, although it has now been almost two years since Craig’s final 007 movie No Time To Die was released.
