Next James Bond odds slashed in half on rising star over last 24 hours | Films | Entertainment

It’s been 18 years since Daniel Craig was cast in Casino Royale but just who will follow him as the next James Bond?

EON Productions will be having secret auditions if they haven’t begun already and fans have their favourites.

As for the bookies’ race, there’s been a recent shake-up in the last 24 hours.

Coral’s John Hill reports: “Jack Lowden is the biggest mover in our James Bond betting for a number of weeks. After strong support over the last 24 hours, his odds have been slashed in half.”

The 33-year-old Dunkirk and Slow Horses actor, who is also Saoirse Ronan’s partner, has moved from 12-1 down to 6-1 in his chances of taking up the Licence to Kill next.

Take it all with a pinch of salt of course, but also in the running in the bookies’ race ahead of Lowden are some big names.

Regé-Jean Page is on 5-1, Henry Cavill on 7-2, James Norton on 3-1 and continuing to lead the pack as the favourite is Aaron Taylor-Johnson on 5-2.

Other notable mentions include Tom Hardy on 7-1, Paapa Essiedu on 8-1, both Richard Madden and Callum Turner on 14-1, Aidan Turner on 16-1 and Sope Dirisu on 20-1.
