Oscars 2024 odds – Cillian Murphy and Oppenheimer set for Academy Awards glory | Films | Entertainment

It’s finally starting to look like it’ll be Christopher Nolan’s year as Oppenheimer took five gongs at last night’s Golden Globes Awards, including Best Drama Picture.

The acclaimed filmmaker won what was astonishingly his first major film award for Best Director.

Meanwhile, both Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr took Best Actor (Drama) and Best Supporting Actor respectively.

After last year’s iconic Barbenheimer opening weekend, Barbie suffered a snub by only taking home the box office achievement award despite having the most nominations of the night at 9.

Now the latest Oscars odds predict Oppenheimer to win every major Academy Award this year bar the actress categories.

Ladbrokes’ Nicola McGeady said: “It was a major night for the Irish in Tinseltown as Cillian Murphy scooped the Best Actor gong. Although the Golden Globes don’t always mean Oscar glory, the odds suggest that Murphy and Oppenheimer will clean up at next month’s ceremony.”

It’s worth noting that Nolan, Murphy and Downey Jr have never won an Oscar before.

The 96th Academy Awards are set to take place on Sunday March 10, with nominations announced on January 23 after voting takes place between January 11-16.

Check out the Oscars odds below, with the only real battle seemingly being between Killers of the Flower Moon’s Lily Gladstone and Poor Things’ Emma Stone for Best Actress.
