Pink graced the stage at BST Hyde Park in London this weekend, bringing her exceptional live show to this side of the world for the first time in months.
While our critic Stefan Kyriazis gushed about Pink’s “jaw-dropping” performance, some fans got a different experience the following day.
The American singer was in the middle of singing her 2001 smash hit Just Like A Pill when one of her adoring fans threw a small bag at her feet.
She bent over and picked up the bag of powder before looking on in horror at what she held in her hands.
The 43-year-old singer stopped singing to ask the fan: “Wait, is this your mom?”
Pink gave a short and nervous laugh before telling the fan: “I don’t know how I feel about this.”
She then carefully placed the bag at the front of the stage before rallying and continuing her performance.
Fans were also completely stunned by the action, and have since begun sounding off on Twitter over the bizarre interaction.
One fan wrote on Twitter: “I can certainly understand what may be the reason why the person brought their mom’s ashes but i really would not come to the point of throwing that container to Pink or to anyone on stage. Maybe dealt with it in a different way perhaps? Pink was confused but handled it well.” (sic)
Another agreed: “Someone gave their Mothers ashes to Pink. I need yall to have boundaries like girl what?!” (sic)
A third fan claimed her friends spoke to the person responsible for throwing the ashes at the concert.
@missamyleigh on Twitter wrote: “OK so my friends were stood near this lady and back story is.. her mum couldn’t get out much as she was so ill when alive so this lady takes her ashes places. So she get out now it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but if it gives this woman comfort then that’s up to her. Not for me tho.” (sic)
This could all, of course, be some sort of elaborate prank, but fans will likely never know.
Either way, Pink seemed to handle it extremely well.
