Pooh’s stumped as Hundred Acre Wood lies bare in new green edition | UK | News

The children’s book Winnie-The-Pooh has been revised to imagine Hundred Acre Wood without any trees.

Winnie-The-Pooh: The Deforested Edition features new illustrations and is the first classic to be updated to reflect green concerns.

The book has been changed to highlight the loss of trees across the world to make traditional toilet paper.

Simon Griffiths, founder of eco toilet paper brand Who Gives a C**p which is making the book available, said: “We hope ‘deforesting’ Winnie-the-Pooh’s iconic environment, to represent the impact of land cleared every day to make traditional toilet paper, will put the issue of deforestation in the spotlight.”

A study conducted by OnePoll found 22 percent of children aged six to 11 were unaware of the impact of cutting down at least a million trees a day to make loo rolls.

And over half of adults did not know what deforestation is, while 38 percent were unsure where toilet paper came from. The book is available for purchase in the US.
