Parents have expressed their frustration with high-street giant Primark after it launched matching £6 Spring dresses for mums and daughters.
Whilst matching outfits have become a new major trend online, Primark fans have been left divided, however, after noticing that there are cute spring matching outfits for mums and their daughters – but they’ve been angrily asking where are the opportunities for them to dress similarly to their sons.
The row started after Primark shared a video of the matching floral dresses for mums and daughters on Tik Tok, reports the Mirror. The video showed two mannequins in identical floral patterns, and written over the top of the video was: “Time to twin with your little one.”
Over the top, the voiceover said: “I don’t know who needs to hear this, but spring is coming.” But while many mums couldn’t wait to twin with their little ones, others were left upset.
Mums of boys headed to the comments section to express their upset that they couldn’t match with their sons this springtime. One wrote: “Mums of boys would love it if Primark did a collection where you could match with the little men in your life!” Another fumed: “We want to match our boys too! Come on now, my boy would rock that print in a pair of shorts.”
“Crying in boy mum”, someone else commented, whilst another added: “…and the BOYS???” followed by multiple blue hearts.
“Some mums have boys, believe it or not. Are we just not allowed to matchy match?”, a distraught mum wrote. “Us boy mums are forgotten”, a TikToker fumed.
A Primark post showcasing the floral Spring dresses was met with a similar reaction. One Instagram used said: “Super cute, but what about mom & boys?” Those who could participate in the trend seemed particularly excited, however, with many mums tagging their pals, saying they were purchasing the matching outfits for them and their daughters, says the Mirror.
A spokesperson for Primark said: “We regularly have matching ranges for the entire family, including our famous Christmas fam jams and our Amalfi lemon range last summer. Keep your eyes peeled for our upcoming summer family collection, due in stores in about eight weeks.”
