Princess Anne, 72, was north of the border on Thursday to visit The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo ahead of its official opening night tonight.
All performers from this year’s show took part in the rehearsal at the Redford Barracks, giving Her Royal Highness an exclusive preview.
For the occasion, the Princess Royal donned an appropriate tartan skirt, a navy jacket with silver buttons, a red scarf, navy tassel loafers, and diamond gold earrings.
But it was Anne’s Adidas sunglasses which got most of her fans talking on social media.
Twitter user @notaroyalexpert wrote: “Princess Anne rocking her iconic sunglasses again today.”
Royal fan @LadyParky79 replied: “Omg I can’t believe she’s still wearing her Team GB London Olympics ones! 2012 iconic.”
Another fan @laurenbankert added: “Princess Anne’s sunglasses always crack me up. She has exactly one pair and they make her look like a racecar driver no matter what else she is wearing.”
Royal watcher @sarah_delore said: “I never get tired of seeing Princess Anne in her sunglasses. She rocks.”
Princess Anne clearly understands the importance of selecting clothing and accessories that will serve as classic staples in her wardrobe, just like many other members of the Royal Family.
The Princess Royal appreciates reusing items in her wardrobe, just like her late father, the late Prince Philip, King Charles and Princess Kate.
Anne’s Adidas sunglasses are one of her favourite accessories. Many of Anne’s outfits are completed with the brand’s “Team GB” sunglasses, which were inspired by the Matrix.
The Princess Royal’s eyewear appears to come in a few different variations, but their avant-garde design and recognisable white frames remain constant.
The sister of the King has worn her Adidas sunglasses to numerous Olympic competitions, as well as more relaxed and formal events.
Because of her preference for the futuristic spectacles, some have even nicknamed Anne an under-the-radar sunglasses influencer.
Anne’s signature sunglasses go back to at least August 2008, when she sported the Adidas version with thicker white arms and modern frames on the first day of the Beijing 2008 Olympics.
She was later photographed wearing the 2012 version of the sunglasses at the London 2012 Games, and has continued to do so ever since.
Princess Anne wears the sunglasses at all types of events, including Royal Ascot, Buckingham Palace garden parties and the Royal Windsor Horse Show.
