Princess Beatrice’s best style moments throughout the years

Princess Beatrice turns 35 on Tuesday, August 8, marking yet another year of regal outfits donned by the mother-of-one.

As a less senior royal than the likes of Princess Kate and Duchess Sophie, Beatrice is not always in attendance at official events. However, when she does step out for poignant engagements, her outfits never fail to impress.

Like other females in the family, the Princess of York is bound by a plethora of protocols and rules that shape her wardrobe, which includes an elaborate mix of colours and styles.

Among the Princess’s most memorable looks are moments in bespoke pink dresses, elaborate headbands, and statement floral gowns, many of which were debuted just this year.

But many of the iconic outfits styled by Beatrice came much earlier on in her very public life.

The Princess of York established her sartorial style in the early 2000s as she transitioned from teenager to young adult. Often spotted in tailored jackets and knee-grazing a-line dresses, the royal made the smart silhouette her signature style.

Throughout what was a controversial period for fashion, the young royal embraced trends such as wedged mules, statement outerwear and trendy bandage dresses on occasion.

But her most notable fashion moment in this era was when she joined her mother, Sarah Ferguson, on the catwalk as part of the Fashion Relief Show during London Fashion Week in 2007.

The figure-hugging satin number marked the start of her affinity with dresses, which have since become more mature and classic.

More recently, Beatrice’s wardrobe has been filled with sharp hemlines, smart tailoring and statement shades of pink and blue.

In 2012, the royal donned a baby pink Roksanda Ilincic shift dress for the Britain Creates 2012 event, in London. Designed with contrast frilled sleeves in cobalt blue, Beatrice teamed the garment with statement stilettos and a glitzy pink clutch.

This marked a turning point in Beatrice’s style evolution, foreshadowing the classic yet eclectic flair that she frequently dons even now.

At Royal Ascot in 2022 the Princess wowed in a monochrome dress by the It-girl brand Saloni. Complete with trademark details including a belted waist, long flowing skirt, modest neckline, and exaggerated puff sleeves, the ensemble looked just like the dress she wore to King Charles’s coronation in May.

Statement headbands and fascinators are another staple accessory in Beatrice’s wardrobe as seen at Royal Ascot this year. The then-34-year-old debuted two floral gowns for the occasion, one by Beulah London and the other by Monique Lhuillier.

The latter was a long-sleeved lace midi dress complete with a white lace overlay and violet, green, and yellow floral spots interspersed throughout. Beatrice teamed the dress with a cream fascinator plus a white handbag from Anya Hindmarch, pale pink satin pumps from Gianvito Rossi, and circular diamond stud earrings.

The vintage-inspired Beulah London dress was covered in a delicate pink-and-green rose floral print, and finished with a ruffled mock turtleneck and puff bishop sleeves.

To accessorize, the Princess of York carried a white bucket bag with a circular tortoiseshell handle and wore a hot-pink bow headband from Juliette Botterill.
