Princess Beatrice’s two tiaras have a £4.75million difference

Princess Beatrice paid a heartfelt homage to her late grandmother Queen Elizabeth II by donning the same tiara for her 2020 nuptials to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

The late Queen had worn the same tiara for her own nuptials to the late Prince Philip in 1947.

The Fringe Tiara was created in 1919 by E. Wolff and Co. for Garrard, the Royal Family’s jewellers, and it is from Queen Mary’s collection.

The tiara is made up of 47 gold and silver-set diamond bars that are spaced apart by diamond spikes.

The diamonds used in the headpiece were originally a component of a Collingwood piece that Queen Victoria gifted Mary in 1893.

There were other royals besides Princess Beatrice and the late Queen Elizabeth II who wore this tiara on their wedding days.

It was also worn by Princess Anne, Princess Royal, to her 1973 nuptials to Mark Phillips. Steven Stone jewellers have estimated the tiara to be worth £5million.

The second time Princess Beatrice wore a tiara was just recently at the wedding of her friend, Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan.

Princess Beatrice wore the York Tiara as a loving homage to her mother, Sarah Ferguson, for whom the tiara was commissioned by the late Queen Elizabeth II for her nuptials to Prince Andrew in 1986.

The peak in the centrepiece of the tiara, which was made by the Royal Family’s jeweller, Garrard, is encircled by white diamond foliate scrolls.

When Sarah wore the tiara to the White Ball in 2001, it had been more than 20 years since the general public first saw it at her wedding.

Princess Beatrice wearing this tiara in Jordan marked the first time it had been seen in 22 years.

Steven Stone experts have commented on the tiara: “The stunning diamond tiara, with a huge five-carat centre stone, is surrounded by an intricate swirled pattern of diamonds of various sizes.

“It’s a remarkable piece, however, with a value of around £250,000, it’s not quite as expensive as some of the other royal tiaras we’ve seen.”

Out of the two tiaras Beatrice has worn, there is a £4.75million difference between the jewels.

Princess Beatrice did not marry until the age of 31, therefore, she could not wear a tiara before this as royal women are unable to wear tiaras until their wedding day.

Many suspected the Princess to wear her mother’s wedding tiara, but she surprised everyone when she decided to wear her grandmother’s diadem instead.
