The Prince and Princess of Wales attended the Royal Charity Polo Cup yesterday, which the Prince was taking part in.
Kate, on the other hand, was seen cheering him on from the sidelines and handing out awards.
Unlike last year, when the royal couple “dialled up the heat and acted like a young couple in love”, yesterday Kate dominated the event and held everyone’s attention.
Express.co.uk spoke exclusively to body language expert Judi James about the couple’s interactions.
After analysing photographs from the event, Judi said: “Kate looked very much like a proud parent at school sports day, rather than a retiring polo wife.
“Her confident stride as she walked across the field with her chin up, hair billowing and a dimpled smile on her face.”
Judi also noted the way Kate “stood in the very centre of the pose for the official snap” and this “made her very much the guest of honour, even though it was William who competed and won the toy elephant-topped prize”.
When it comes to interacting with her husband, Judi said: “Kate used touch, close eye contact and face-watching to communicate with William, even breaking out into rather naughty-looking laughter at one point.”
The expert also noted Kate’s “rather sweet dominant pose” and how this “went against tradition in the rather macho sport where men peacock and preen in their white jodhpurs, while women sit watching or leap up to stomp the divots at half-time”.
William, on the other hand, “looked totally and almost blissfully happy with her rituals, even producing some complimentary body language as he posed behind her for the photo line-up or stood looking bashfully down at his award while she oozes confidence beside him”.
