Queen Camilla wears sentimental pearl pendant earrings almost every day

Queen Camilla, 75, confirmed the long-standing speculation that ears aren’t pierced in an interview with British Vogue last year.

The Queen Consort said: “The grandchildren will try to persuade me, but nothing’s going to pierce my ears.”

Many fans suspected this to be the case for some time, as the Queen usually only wears one pair of earrings when carrying out royal engagements.

These jewels are Camilla’s everyday pearl pendant earrings, which she first debuted on her wedding day to then-Prince Charles in 2005.

Ever since then, the Queen predominantly wears these earrings and rarely any others, which made fans suspicious that her ears are not pierced and her pearl jewels are in fact clip-on earrings.

Queen Camilla’s earrings contain a pierced round pearl pendant that hangs from intricate silver-toned discs. Though it’s hard to tell, it appears the top piece may contain some sort of stone.

Since royal fans can’t see the top of the earrings when they are on, it is twice as difficult to view the details.

The Queen’s distinctive blonde hairstyle continues to conceal them, but she can be recognised by the spherical pearls that are just visible from beneath her luscious hair.

Currently, she wears these earrings to most of her engagements and occasionally evening receptions as well.

For instance, she almost always wears them to Trooping The Colour and Royal Ascot, among other exciting events.

On April 9, 2005, she chose these jewels for her civil wedding to King Charles which took place at the Windsor Guildhall.

Therefore, these earrings likely hold a strong sentimental meaning for the Queen Consort as they represent her entrance into the Royal Family.

This could mean the jewels were a wedding present from either her future husband or the late Queen Elizabeth II, though this has never been confirmed.

As Camilla’s ears remain unpierced, all her earrings have to be clip-on jewels. This meant the Queen Consort could not wear the traditional Coronation Earrings during her husband’s Coronation because she doesn’t have pierced ears.

She opted to wear a set of her own diamond drop earrings instead. These earrings included a triangular gold stud and round diamonds placed in a contemporary gold setting.

If Camilla does wear pieces from the royal collection, they have to be modified. For example, in Camilla’s pre-Coronation portrait, she wore the late Queen Elizabeth II’s pearl earrings that were adorned with sapphire and ruby gemstones.

These earrings were most probably modified to become clip-on jewels so that Camilla could wear them as a tribute to the late monarch.
