At one point Rebel Moon could have been the filmmaker’s Star Wars movie after he pitched the concept to Lucasfilm over a decade ago.
Nevertheless, his original story has found its home at the streaming behemoth where it’s getting two parts and, you guessed it, an R-rated extended Snyder Cut.
Today the first trailer for Rebel Moon has arrived giving an immersive first look at Snyder’s epic space opera.
Express.co.uk attended a preview with Snyder this morning where we were treated to a special version of the trailer including R-rated scenes that will end up in the director’s cut.
An official synopsis teases: “When a peaceful colony on the edge of a galaxy is threatened by a tyrannical ruling force, a mysterious stranger becomes their best hope for survival.”
The sci-fi two-parter, which is inspired by Star Wars and the films of Akira Kurosawa, stars Sofia Boutella, Djimon Hounsou, Charlie Hunnam and Ray Fisher. Meanwhile, double Oscar-winner Sir Anthony Hopkins voices a mechanical knight called Jimmy.
Rebel Moon Part 1: A Child of Fire arrives on Netflix on December 22, 2023, while Rebel Moon Part 2: The Scargiver follows in April 2024.
