It’s been a couple of years since Robert Pattinson took up his cape in The Batman against The Riddler and The Penguin.
It wasn’t long before The Batman 2 aka The Batman Part II, was announced with both the star and writer/director Matt Reeves expressing interest in DC characters they’d like to see introduced.
Possible names thrown around included Robin, the Court of Owls, Calendar Man, Mr Freeze and Hush.
An initial release date for the sequel was announced for October 3, 2025 but now the blockbuster has been postponed a whole year to October 2, 2026.
According to The Hollywood Reporter’s DC insiders, the delay is related to last year’s strikes.
Filming for The Batman Part II is set to begin in August, while a spin-off TV show will release later this year.
Colin Farrell reprises his villainous Oswald Cobblepot in The Penguin, a limited streaming series that takes place one week after the events of The Batman. The show will explore his rise to power in Gotham City’s criminal underworld.
The Batman Part II hits cinemas on October 2, 2026.
