Royal Mail has faced postal delays in the past days and weeks due to a range of factors, such as staff absences. The postal service has warned customers of new delays over the weekend.
Royal Mail stated on its website today: “Weekend delivery and collection services are expected to take place on Saturday 25 March. Sunday parcel deliveries are expected on Sunday 26 March.
“Most of our Customer Service Points are open both Saturday and Sunday for you to collect urgent items for which we’ve left a ‘Something for you’ card – please visit royalmail.com/services-near-you for their opening times.”
The company announced that there are some delays within its international service. It said: “Following the restoration of Royal Mail International export services, delivery of international items may take slightly longer than usual.
“Customers using International Tracked services may notice different tracking information as items leave the UK. We are seeing delays to some tracking events in a small number of destinations.

“As we continue to work with our partners to resolve this, if you cannot see tracking information for your items it is likely to be available on the overseas’ posts tracking websites. Please see here for more information.
“Customers sending items requiring a customs declaration (such as goods or gifts) internationally are asked to purchase postage online, through shipping solutions or over the counter at Post Office branches rather than using stamps or meters.
“We’re sorry for the disruption this incident has caused affected customers.”
As for its national deliveries today, the postal service is operating as normal, but Britons can expect delays in some parts of the country.
“We’re sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding. We will regularly update customers on the offices most impacted here.”
The company also gave information on its service on upcoming public holidays, saying: “We deliver and collect your mail on most days of the year, including Saturdays. However, we don’t usually deliver or collect on bank and public holidays.”
“Please use the links below to see the bank and public holidays and how they will affect our services.”
No collections or deliveries will be made on bank and public holidays in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland. In Scotland, however, Good Friday, April 7, will see collections and deliveries being made as normal.
