Secret reason Queen Camilla broke tradition by wearing bright blue | Royal | News

Commonwealth Day has become a key annual tradition celebrated across parts of the world and is an important day for the Royal Family to show strength and unity across nations.

In the absence of King Charles who has been undergoing treatment for his recent cancer diagnosis, Queen Camilla was leading the Commonwealth Day Service alongside trusted members of the Royal Family including Prince William, Princess Anne, and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.

The Queen took the event in her stride as she opted for a bright aquamarine coat by Bruce Oldfield, a heart-shaped gemstone brooch, and sweeping blonde locks, showcasing her trademark bouncy blow dry. Her matching hat was by Philip Treacy, which she teamed with Russell & Bromley boots and a Bottega Veneta Cassette bag.

Image consultant, Francesca Cairns, has believes the bright shade chosen for the event was carefully picked by the royal.

She claims: “The bright blue shade really compliments Camilla’s undertone and eyes. She likely chose for this shade to signify positivity and unity, given the occasion’s significance in celebrating the Commonwealth. The colour blue often symbolises trust and stability.”

Queen Camilla was respectfully greeted by the Duchess of Edinburgh, followed by Princess Anne, who gave the Her Majesty an informal kiss on the cheek on arrival at Westminster Abbey.

With regards to colour choices, the image expert believes Queen Camilla, 76, falls within a summer season, which means there is a low level of contrast between hair colour, eye colour and skin tone, with cool undertones of pink or blue.

Francesca claims by not opting for “attention-grabbing” colours all the time, she is emphasising her role as a supportive member of the family.

She explained: “By not opting for bold or attention-grabbing colours all the time, she may be aiming to project a more reserved image, emphasising her role as a supportive and composed member of the royal family.”

She added her preference for “light and subtle” shades conveys a sense of “elegance and sophistication”.

Overall, the image consultant believes Camilla’s wardrobe choices “reflect a deliberate effort to maintain a sense of grace and propriety” while fulfilling her duties as a member of the monarchy.

Camilla’s choice of brooch for the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey sparked delight for royal style watchers on social media.

According to Robert Hardman on the BBC broadcast, the brooch in question was once part of the late Queen Elizabeth’s impressive collection.

Fans on X shared their admiration for the piece: “The colour and shape really suits her. Love that hat and you’re right about that brooch- it’s huge!”
