Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh stunned at Westminster Abbey in her Proenza Schouler coat on Monday for the Commonwealth Day Service. But her brooch really caught the attention of royal fans.
Royal fan @lalauraru777 tweeted: “She looks fabulous and I am so happy for them. Well-deserved honour.
“There must be some significance in this brooch – it’s a bit different, is it not? Perhaps an artisan she has championed.”
In fact, the Duchess wore the brooch as recently as December 2022 at Kate Middleton’s Together at Christmas carol concert.
According to royal fashion expert @dagmar_Marie77, the brooch was a “gift to Sophie from 2015”.

They tweeted: “It was a gift from the Czech designer Mrs Štěpánka Tóth Kufřiřtová, owner of the STEFANY® jewellery.”
The two stones included in the jewel are called “feather agate with a cavity filled by pure crystal”.
The expert noted that this brand “creates one-of-a-kind pieces by combining rare stones with silver, gold and other varieties of metals”.
But the brooch may have a hidden meaning, according to this expert.
