Spider-Man 4 confirmed with two major stars returning to MCU | Films | Entertainment

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse just premiered in the USA with a massive red carpet event. Attending the movie’s arrival was Sony Pictures boss Amy Pascal, who teased the future of the live-action Spider-Man movies.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe version of Spider-Man has been played by Tom Holland until now across three mainline movies – Homecoming, Far From Home and No Way Home – while also making appearances in Avengers Infinity War and Avengers Endgame.

The ending of No Way Home was extremely ambiguous regarding whether Holland would return to play Peter Parker.

But Pascal just confirmed a fourth Spider-Man movie would be hitting cinemas in the near future. What’s more, she added that Holland and MJ star Zendaya will also be making a comeback to the series.

“Are we going to make another movie? Of course, we are,” she told Variety at the premiere.

Although this is incredible news for Marvel fans, Pascal did add that there have been some issues with the scripts thus far.

Pascal said: “We’re in the process, but the writers strike – nobody is working during the strike. We’re all being supporters and whenever they get themselves together, we’ll get started.”

The Writers Guild of America began striking on May 2 and does not yet have an end date. Until then, it seems like we won’t get another update for the wall-crawler’s series.

Another Sony boss, Tom Rothman, also gave a few words about the future of the Spider-Man series.

He cryptically said: “If I told you, I’d have to kill you.”

The return of Tom Holland is rather surprising considering he spoke about his journey as Spider-Man coming to an end back in 2021.

Holland said it might be time for him to step down before he gets too old. “Maybe it is time for me to move on,” he confessed. “Maybe what’s best for Spider-Man is that they do a Miles Morales film.”

He added: “If I’m playing Spider-Man after I’m 30, I’ve done something wrong.”

Spider-Man 4 does not yet have a release date.
