While they both look fabulous, Kate, Princess of Wales and Queen Camilla have very different personal styles. With different body types and 30-odd years between them, there are some things Kate wears that Camilla would not and vice versa. Express.co.uk spoke to stylist, image coach and personal shopper Melissa Lund about a popular Kate style Camilla would never wear.

Melissa stated: “This is an interesting one to comment on because, on the face of it, if you had to describe them to someone, you could say that Kate and Camilla often wear fairly similar clothes.
“They both like a tailored dress and coat combination or a coat-dress as a stand alone item.
“However, they wear their clothes differently, with Kate’s clothes being cut closer to the body, which shows off her slim figure, and Camilla’s having a less fitted, more forgiving cut, designed to skim the body.”
The expert continued: “Having said they wear fairly similar items, there are some things Kate wears which Camilla doesn’t.”

While both royal women wear trousers it is Kate who is spotted in them much more frequently than Camilla.
If Camilla does wear trousers these tend to be a “flowing” style, while Kate favours high-waist flares worn with high heels.
She added: “Kate also wears skinny jeans and slim trousers, which are also not something Camilla wears.”
But with access to some of the most beautiful clothing and fine tailoring in the fashion world, why doesn’t the Queen Consort sport the occasional flare or slim-fit trouser?
The expert suggested that this may be a matter of age and personal style.
“Camilla is at an age where she needs clothes that skim the body, giving her an elegant line,” Melissa explained.
“Camilla can certainly wear slim, tailored trousers. I guess the truth is that she may not actually like either style and that’s why she doesn’t wear them.
“The skinny jeans are a casual look and she may feel they’re not appropriate for her because they lack gravitas.”

If Camilla wanted to channel Kate’s style this would not be out of bounds, though, according to the expert.
However, Melissa advised she might want to make a few small changes to get the most flattering look possible.
“The truth is that skinny jeans – particularly worn with a Breton top and flat shoes or trainers à la Kate – look best on slim legs because there’s nowhere to hide – nothing to balance out hips and thighs.
“Camilla could wear skinny jeans but they’d look best tucked into tall boots, creating a little more width at the bottom of the leg to balance the body.
“If she wanted to wear flats, rolling the cuff of the jeans helps to balance the thighs.”
Melissa suggested that a slim fitting knee-length coat or cardi – particularly in cashmere or suede – would look “great” on the royal and create a “slim line”.
If she was keen to go for a flared trouser look, this might be a “more difficult look to pull off” because she typically only goes for mid-height heels. Kate, on the other hand, towers in 105mm from Gianvito Rossi.
Nevertheless, Camilla could rock a flared trouser should she choose if she created waist emphasis, paired them with a suede coat and “literally upped her heels game”.
