The Smiths star rages as Trump uses famous track at rally ‘Shut this s**t down!’ | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

However, some X users disagreed strongly with Johnny’s sentiment.

One commenter remarked: “Yuck, don’t be one of those guys. Plenty of people out there that are Trump supporters love the Smiths. Doesn’t mean you endorse him.”

While another pointed out: “Good luck. The Stones, Neil Young, Tom Petty have all been trying to get Trump to stop using their music for years.”

The track was used at a rally in Rapid City, South Dakota last year, on September 9.

Journalist Soorin Kim posted a clip of the track’s use, remarking: “You actually hear the Smiths more often than you’d think at 2024 Trump rallies.”

Others have also pointed out that The Smiths’ lead singer Morrissey is not a fan of Trump either, despite holding some more conservative political views.

In 2017 he told German newspaper Der Spiegel that he’d “kill” Trump if given the choice “for the sake of humanity”.
